This episode here is presented by Mr. Wang Hai, the director of Jinan Library, introducing you the rare ancient book Selected Works of Mr. Zeng from Nanfeng County.

The author of Selected Works of Mr. Zeng from Nanfeng County is Zeng Gong, who was one of "Eight Prose Masters in Tang and Song Dynasties". Zeng Gong (1019~1083), styled Zi Gu and known as "Mr. Nanfeng", was a famous litterateur and politician in Northern Song Dynasty. Zeng Gong had quite a history with Jinan. He served as governor of Qizhou (Jinan today). Although his tenure was not long, he made outstanding achievements and was deeply loved and respected by the people. He choosed "Baotu Spring" as the official name firstly for Kan Spring and textual researched Li Mountain(Qianfo Mountain today) as the mountain where Shun cultivated, which greatly influenced the historical and cultural status of Jinan.

Jinan Library has ten volumes of Selected Works of Mr. Zeng from Nanfeng County, which was engraved by An Rushi in the 28th year of Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty (1549). An Rushi was a famous publisher in Ming Dynasty, the ancient books who printed are the model books engraved by private publisher in Ming Dynasty. This book was printed exquisitely with a grand format, neat fonts, clear strokes, white papers and thick ink. It is a typical representative of the Jiajing good editions. Although it is an anthology, it has more contents than the edition engraved in Song Dynasty , and includes articles that were not included in Yuanfeng Lei Gao, such as "Ting Qin Xu" in Volume 3. Therefore it has great academic proofreading value and edition collection value. The seals at the beginning and preface includes "Yang Shi Hai Yuan Ge Cang", "Feng E", "Xieqing Du Guo", "Ying Suo Yan Zhai Cang Shu", "Jingtang Chang Wu" and others, indicating that it is an old collection of Yang's Haiyuan Pavilion and Mr. Pang Jingtang. This edition of the book is good and rare, which was selected into the second group of "National Catalogue of Precious Ancient Books" in the year of 2009.
